Huge shout out to Summer Cook on her first WTS win in Edmonton.
Worth a re-watch of the race at triathlon.org as it was one of the gutsiest performances I’ve ever seen! Summer emerged from the water in 3rd and clung for dear life to the lead group of 9 on the bike.
Commentators wrote her off after a slower T2, but she stormed back and took the lead from veteran Sarah True with about 800 meters to go. Brilliant effort, Summer!
EDP athlete Katie Zaferes finished 3rd.
Other EDP athletes Kirsten Kasper and Taylor Spivey also factored prominently in the race.
So well done, ladies!!!
