SUMMARY:20th Annual Team Psycho Indoor Time Trial
DESCRIPTION:Come test your biking prowess against Team Psycho and other triathlon and cycling teams at the 20th Annual Team Psycho Indoor Time Trial at Fast Splits in Needham on Saturday\, Feb 10\, 2024. \nHeats go off at 1pm\, 2pm\, and 3pm. Fuel for Fire\, Marathon Sports\, and Peak Organic Brewery are sponsoring the event as well as some awards so we hope that is added motivation! \nAnyone can race in any heat\, but if you want to race head-to-head against other top women\, race the Wonder Women heat at 2pm. Top men are encouraged to race with the Mighty Men at 3pm. If you want to race with other Team Psycho members\, choose the 1pm heat. \nREGISTER HERE (ASAP to get your preferred heat) \nWe are bringing back the vibe of the old days when it was a party as well as a competitive event (thanks again to Peak Organic Brewery)…so plan on staying a while and trading excuses for why your watts weren’t higher or basking in the glory of how yours were. We will have some food to accompany the beverages. \nVOLUNTEERS NEEDED: for registration (12pm – 4pm or any shift within) and to help with setting up people in their heats\, calibrating\, etc. Email Karen at mkandks@comcast.net if you can help out (you can volunteer AND ride).

No entry fee\, no timing…just a tradition that some of us like to keep going because it is a fun way to start the year. \nDrop dry clothes/backpacks at the Corner Tavern at 11 am and there will be a carpool for some people to the start. There will also be someone who can bring backpacks from Wellesley to the bar if you want to meet at Marathon Sports just before noon. FYI: Marathon Sports will be open for bathrooms but not for purchases. \nEmail Karen at mkandks@comcast.net if you plan to come and need a ride or bag transport.

SUMMARY:PMC 2019
DESCRIPTION:The PMC is a favorite Team Psycho charity. We encourage you to support the team members who ride to raise funds for Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. \nThe Pan-Mass Challenge\, founded in 1980\, is the nation’s original fundraising bike-a-thon\, and today raises more money for charity than any other athletic fundraising event in the country. A model of fundraising efficiency\, the PMC has donated 100 percent of every rider-raised dollar directly to cancer research and treatment at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute since 2007. \nThe PMC is a fully supported bike-a-thon with food and water stops\, mechanical and medical assistance\, lodging and luggage\, bike and individual transportation. Whether it’s 25 or 192 miles\, every mile pedaled equals funds raised for Dana-Farber Cancer Institute’s life-saving research and treatment. The 2019 goal is $60 million. \nCyclists choose one or two days; 12 routes from 25 to 192 miles that cater to all levels of cycling strength and fundraising capacity. The longest route is the two-day\, 192-mile ride from Sturbridge to Provincetown\, and the shortest is a one-day\, 25-mile ride from Babson College to Patriot Place in Foxboro. \nPeople travel from around the world to participate. Thousands of riders and volunteers have lost loved ones to the disease and still more ride in honor of those in treatment. Over 900 PMC riders and volunteers make up the PMC Living Proof community who were previously treated or are undergoing treatment. The camaraderie shared by riders\, volunteers\, and supporters is so strong that even the doctors at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute join their patients as teammates\, riding toward a unified goal. \nRide to bring the PMC closer by the mile.

SUMMARY:Hyannis Sprint Triathlon 2019
DESCRIPTION:This is Cape Cod’s longest-running triathlon — and one of the oldest races in the world. Recently named as one of the 20 best triathlons in the nation by Men’s Health magazine\, the Hyannis 1 sprint race (KEY Team Psycho race) starts and finishes at picturesque\, sandy Craigville Beach. It’s challenging — but still able to be completed by fitness enthusiasts who have trained for the distances. The atmosphere is special; the views are spectacular; and your satisfaction of accomplishment will last for a long time! \n\nNamed as one of the 20 Best Triathlons in the Nation by Men’s Health magazine (2016)\nNamed one of The Most Amazing Triathlons to Do in the USA Today by The Culture Trip (2017)\nVoted one of the Top 5 Small Races Worldwide by the Triathlete’s Choice Awards (2018)\n\n\nSWIM: 1/4 mile\nA sandy\, waist-deep start at Craigville Beach (expect temps in the upper 60s for Hyannis1; mid-70s for Hyannis2). The course is rectangular in shape (approx 150 yards between the two turns). Wave conditions over the years have ranged from glass-calm to a moderate chop; never “big surf” in the protected waters of Nantucket Sound. \nBIKE: 10.3 miles\nThis “rolling hills” course leaves the shores of Craigville to enter into the historic village of Centerville\, then winds its way through the villages of Osterville and Wianno before returning along a shoreside road to Craigville Beach. Single loop; and no duplication of any stretch of road! \nRUN: 3.6 miles\nThe athletes head off toward Hyannisport\, with a quarter-mile flat run evolving into a gradual climb for a quarter-mile\, then a gentle rolling grade until the last mile which is a gentle downhill grade. A water stop is staffed by enthusiastic volunteers at the midpoint of the 3.6-mile run.
