EDP Update 4/9/16

Massive WTS race today on the Gold Coast, AU.

Several countries using this race as an Olympic qualifier, so guns were a blazing! Both GB and AUS were using this race as an Olympic selection event, so it was thrilling to watch.

Helen Jenkins of GB took the win over Gwen Jorgensen, upsetting Gwen’s 12 race winning streak.

For our purposes, our EDP athletes had a strong showing with Kirsten Kasper right off the shoulder of the swim leader, finishing a very impressive 10th overall in this highly competitive race.

And Katie Zaferes, with what I believe was her season opener, was a strong 6th place overall.

Our EDP athletes will go back to work, with the all important Yokohama race about 1 month away.

As an aside, while not an EDP sponsored athlete, Boston College grad Joe Maloy, who many of you know, finished a career best 6th on the men’s side; the best finish at a WTS race by a US male since Hunter Kemper (5th) in 2012.

Congrats, athletes.
